Saigon Streat is a Vietnamese pop up that finds amazing cafes and venues with character and pops up in them. In the evenings, they transform an existing daytime space into a buzzing Vietnamese restaurant, serving summer rolls, steamed buns, broths, noodles and rice!
Initially, Minh had no intention of starting a restaurant business when he founded Saigon Streat, which was originally all about his mum’s dipping sauces.
‘”She makes a really, really good Vietnamese dipping sauce. It has the perfect balance of flavours. Saigon Streat was originally about bottling it up and getting it on the shelves of supermarkets.”
After a month of hosting dinner parties to showcase the sauce Minh realised he was heading in the wrong direction.
‘’What I truly enjoyed and was passionate about was serving people great food and creating a good time. I’ve always loved getting a bunch of friends and family together over delicious food, so it sort of all came together without me even noticing. I ran my first pop up in Greenwich and its popularity blew me away!’’
The food at Saigon Streat is, mainly based on family recipes which his parents can take the credit for!
‘’My mum has the fresh and fragrant approach to Asian cooking that is so distinctive in Vietnamese cuisine. My dad was born in Vietnam to Chinese parents, so he was also raised to cook proper Chinese food’’
As a result the menu is primarily Vietnamese but has strong Chinese influences.
